Q: What does a Strawberry purchase include?

A: Strawberry comes either as a storage and software original embedded manufacturing (OEM) from our hardware partners, or it can be purchased as 1u meta data controller to be connected to a storage device of your choice. Customers do not need to purchase any extra software or hardware modules. The metadata controller contains all required collaboration and media asset management features.

Q: Q: On what operating system is Strawberry based?

A: Strawberry is using a Red Hat-based Linux to ensure stability and secure collaboration.

Q: Which operating systems does the Strawberry client support?

A: Windows: Windows XP Service Pack II/ Windows Vista 32bit/64bit/ Windows 7 32bit/64bit

Apple: OSX 10.5 or later

If your operating system is not listed in this Overview, you may still be able to use Strawberry. Please contact us for details.

Q: Is it possible to share projects from applications other than Avid, Final Cut and Premiere?

A: Yes. Strawberry is optimized for the most popular editing applications but can be adapted for compatibility with other applications as well. To work with Strawberry an application has to meet certain criteria for handling project/media files and for handling network access. If your needs require you to use Strawberry with applications other than Avid, FCP and Premiere you should contact us. We will help you find the right solution.

Q: Does Strawberry currently allow users to share editing sequences between Avid and Final Cut Pro?

A: No. We don’t offer this feature at this time. We do recommend the cost-free third-party application, Automatic Duck. It supports a wide range of applications beyond Avid and FCP.

Q: Does Strawberry offer a proxy preview for clips?

A: We have not yet implemented this feature.

Q: Does Strawberry copy or move any material while collaborative editing?

A: No, Strawberry is always pointing to the original source files on the server, regardless of the number of editors working on it.

Q: Can Strawberry be installed on every NAS/SAN?

A: Yes, once the Strawberry MDC is connected to an existing storage/file system, it can be used for collaborative editing, media asset management and user/team management.

Q: Which SAN File Systems does Strawberry support?

A: At this moment Strawberry offcially supports HyperFS™, StorNext™ and XSan™

Q: Is it true that Strawberry can be adapted to every workflow?

A: Yes. Since Strawberry is a modular in design, it can be adapted to any existing workflow. If you want us to help your design a new workflow or to integrate Strawberry into you existing workflow, don’t hesitate to contact us.

Q: Does Strawberry include archive functions?

A: Yes. Strawberry has a one-click archive solution to securely back up project files and their related media files into a *.tar archive. We are in the process of developing an integrated system to work with other backup solutions, such as Front Porch DIVA™ among others.

Q: Can I connect Strawberry to existing media asset management or archiving systems?

A: Strawberry uses standard database technology (MySQL), making this connection possible—with some additional effort.
